HOUSE MD FIC: Absent Friends

Title: Absent Friends
Fandom: House M.D.
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Pairing: House & Wilson friendship
Summary: A coda to 8X06 "Parents."

House hummed a little as he unlocked the door to his silent apartment, still buzzing with excitement and alcohol after his evening jaunt to Atlantic City with Foreman.

Six beer cans had been rinsed and set neatly next to the recycling. An empty pizza box was tucked behind the trash can on its side.

Only as he was reemerging from the kitchen did House finally notice that his television set was missing.

Sitting in its place was a crisply folded note, and on that, written in Wilson's inimitable left-handed scrawl, were the words, "Sorry that you couldn't go with me."

If there were any continuity at all, this would happen in canon. Love it!

Hee! Thank you :).

LOL. This must be the scene that ended up on the cutting room floor due to episode length. It was the ending I would have liked to have seen. :)

I didn't even get to see the actual ending since my livestream cut out, but folks have been pretty vocal about what they would have liked to have seen ;).

Oh ho! This is perfect! A little back and forth which has always been their style. Friendship still intact but Wilson didn't let it simply slide, either. Good job!

Thanks - it seemed like a fitting countermove!

Excellent! Turnabout is fair play.

Thanks! I agreed with those who pointed out that Wilson shouldn't have been so passive about the whole thing.

LMAO! Perfect!

I think the only explanation for Wilson's apparent acceptance at the end could be that he is planning something like this. Unless Wilson is now cheerleading House/Foreman instead of House/Cuddy...

Great drabble, I like that Wilson still cleaned up after himself :)

Gah! Say it ain't so! ;)

Great drabble, I like that Wilson still cleaned up after himself :)

Thanks! I like to imagine Wilson taking a last look around to make sure all is tidy before walking off with House's tv.

I. LOVE. THIS. :D After the intriguing discussion following yesterday's episode, this is awesome! (I was admittedly divided for awhile on what I thought the motivations were behind House and Wilson's actions and reactions, but I'm now even more convinced, that more than anything, yesterday's episode was merely another prank in their ongoing 20-year prank war.)

I really like the way you've described House's apartment; sometimes, I have difficulty picturing a setting but you've illustrated the beer bottles and pizza box as being cleaned up in a way so pristine that it's obvious that Wilson has been there!

And I love that Wilson took the television set and the sarcastic note left behind was totally in character!

(I've really been wanting to read more of "Bad Influence" and other fics in general lately, but sadly haven't had the time. Hopefully I'll have more free time with the holidays coming up.)

I still think that there are multiple possible interpretations - and I'm not sure that was the authors'/actors' intent - but this one was fun to explore! :D

And I'm glad you found the tidy apartment and sarcastic note to be so in-character :).

Aww, thanks, hon! I know you've been really busy. *hugs*

Oh, this is the thing I wanted to write and couldn't, and it is perfect. It absolutely happened.

Thank you! As soon as I got the idea, I had to write this.

No kidding, I was imagining the same thing myself, except in my head he smashed the TV. How lovely to log in and find that a talented writer has written what was going through my head. (and a little scary...)

Aww... I don't think that Wilson would destroy an innocent television set unless he were really overcome with emotion. Kidnapping is much more his style ;).

Thanks for commenting!

Hee - glad you think so!

That's so good. Would be perfect if I could imagine the TV being a nice new shining wide plasma or LCD thingy, instead of the horrible huge old thing it is... if I were House I'd be happy to have an excuse to buy a new one!
Still, perfect revenge. It's a miracle how you packed so much ICness in so few words.
LMAO at the rinsed beer cans.

Yeah, it wasn't until [livejournal.com profile] cuddyclothes posted the screencaps that I realized just how crappy House's tv was. Forcing it into retirement now seems like an act of mercy!

Thanks for commenting.
