This would probably be a good time to mention that all of the recs I have been posting would be more aptly termed favorites. They are simply works that I enjoy so much that I find myself returning to them again and again. In other words, subjectivity ahoy.


Fanfiction and Filks

Down to the Water by blackmare_9 
One of the first stories I read in the fandom, and still my absolute favorite gen fic. Practically perfect in every way, and not just because it's set post-"House's Head"/"Wilson's Heart."

A Modest Proposal by ignazwisdom 
The darker sequel Involuntary Commitment is great too, but this is my go-to feel-good House/Wilson fic - as funny and erotic and in-character as I could wish.

Dreams of the Gimp-Legged Nuthatch by blackmare_9 
An absolutely gorgeous series of dream sequences set during House's stay at Mayfield.

Antifreeze by barefootpuddles 
Wilson is cold and needs House to help warm him up. This is so much my kind of thing that it's a little ridiculous.

Falling Slowly by jezziejay 
My favorite of the fix-it fics that followed "Out of the Chute." It blows me away every time.

Collectively by jezziejay 
The second vignette especially makes me giggle to near-incontinence. I can't even really explain why.

I really cannot say how hard I laughed / At this fair Work, so doughty and so daft.

Five Days a Week by milkshake_b 
My favorite "Five Things" fic - in this case, five ways the Cottages didn't find out that House and Wilson were sleeping together.

Speed You Down by mayatawi 
Dark House/Chase set between the first and second seasons. I'm not really sure what the draw is - so wrong that it's right?

Everybody already knows this one, but there's a reason for it. The sweetest House/Wilson I can tolerate.

This is a very popular song for House vids, but I love this troubled House/Wilson established relationship version.
