It's difficult to do a crossover well, but when they work, they make me extremely happy :). Please rec any of your own favorites in the comments!

Fanfiction and Filks

The District by [livejournal.com profile] dorkorific
Iker Casillas is running for U.S. Senate, and Xabi Alonso is his campaign manager, but the Barca Daily is threatening to uncover a secret that could blow the campaign out of the water - can Xabi's former partner Steven Gerrard save it? Basically a West Wing/football rpf fic but includes cameos from every (non-supernatural) show and journalist I've ever crushed on. Don't miss the cast list. Warning: it's a WIP, and I have no idea whether it will ever be finished.

Breathe, Keep Breathing by [livejournal.com profile] thedeadparrot
House MD/Battlestar Galactica AU crossover in which House and Wilson are thrown together for survival after the destruction of the Colonies. There are others in the series, but this is my favorite.

Lies, Damn Lies, and Agriculture by torch
Very funny The West Wing/The X-Files crossover in which Alex Krycek tries to make an appointment with Josh Lyman.

A Rum Thing Indeed by [livejournal.com profile] maineac
Bertie Wooster discovers that he has a doppelganger on an American television show called House MD. Hee!

It Isn't MS by [livejournal.com profile] menolly_au
Hilarious House MD/The West Wing crossover, and I'm not just saying that because it was written especially for me ;).

Backup Copies by [livejournal.com profile] etothepii
Sherlock BBC/Dollhouse crossover. Brilliant idea, excellent execution. To say more would give too much away.

Fanvids

Resist or Serve by KatrinDepp
A House MD/The X-FIles crossover vid was begging to be made after the House MD episode "Cane and Able", and this vidder did a splendid job. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] petitecuriosity  for the rec!

The Way I Loved You by forbidden spark
Bones/The X-Files, another obvious crossover choice. This one's incredibly schmoopy, but I love it. Go ahead, make fun of me.

[livejournal.com profile] pwcorgigirl's Walking Ghost. Crossover of House and MI-5, with guest appearances by several other characters ... all played by Hugh Laurie in their respective shows. Just an amazing fic.

Thank you for the rec! I probably am not familiar enough with MI-5 to appreciate this fully, but I will definitely check it out.

*g*

I actually hit enter too soon -- I was going to add that readers don't need to have any knowledge of the other shows. I had never watched MI-5 either. :-D

There are some awesome House and Stargate:Atlantis crossovers! A few friends and I put together as comprehensive a list as we could here. \o/

Thank you! Do you have a particular favorite or favorites?

ETA: or can you recommend one that would still be enjoyed by someone completely unfamiliar with the SGA fandom?

I have been trying to narrow it down to one for a day now! : )

Do you like PWP or gen? Would you rather read about Wilson or House?

Oh! And I thought of a Torchwood crossover. Let me go get it for you.

LOL. False dichotomies, I hope! My preference is for in-character House and Wilson together, with or without porn.

I don't know Torchwood either, but I think that I could really get into that fandom based on what little I've read.

There's also this:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4190661/1/A_Distorted_Genius

It's also on the Big Bang archive, but that seems to be down whenever I try to read a fic there. No knowledge of the other fandom is needed.

Thank you! I've never seen/read Nero Wolfe myself, but the premise sounds fun.

(thanks for the rec:)

I really enjoyed this one when it was posted A Long Slow Fade to the extent that I started watching the other show (Medium). But its a fairly major undertaking - novel sized!

And I second Yarroway's recommendation of A Distorted Genius, and the same author did another crossover (Stephanie Plum) for the Big bang the year after that was good too - Bounty Hunter Bedlam

Okay, here is my crossover rec (cut and pasted from my rec post):

For Every Closed Door by [livejournal.com profile] starlingthefool
Summary: Crossover with "Dead like Me" (note: I never even heard of "Dead Like Me" before reading this and it didn't matter)
Why you should read it: While it is a kind of death fic, they are ghosts so it is not very sad. It's long and hopeful and funny and interesting and makes the idea of ghosts seem totally realistic. Kept me up reading into the wee hours. Epic length.

It was really, really excellent. :)

I have to say that even though I adore The X-Files and Buffy, the idea of combining House MD with supernatural elements doesn't sit very well with me because I so appreciate House's position as an atheist and a skeptic. But I will give this a try, thank you.

If it helps any, House's situation is not a happy, easy one. It isn't magical heaven. This is some discussions of heaven, but House and Wilson are stuck on earth. It is also weirdly realistic and even gritty, so it seems very fitting to House's personality.

Remembered another good one -- Change Is the Only Constant, by Mara Greengrass. Crossover of House and Batman. *g* There's a sequel linked on that page, but I'm not sure I've ever read it.

Elemental Forces by Mer. House MD/Torchwood crossover. If you don't know Torchwood, you can learn about it along with Wilson. NC-17, Wilson/Jack.
