A single-handed manita from Messi

My man Leo Messi was forced to sit out Saturday's game against Sporting Gijon due to yellow card accumulation in La Liga. Many expected him to return hungry for victory. But I don't think that anyone could have predicted that he would score five goals in tonight's Champions' League game against Bayer Leverkusen - the first player to do so in the history of the tournament. So freaking amazing!



In other news, twenty-year-old Cristian Tello made his Champions' League debut and scored two goals, the first only two minutes after coming on for Iniesta. He was this close to making a hat trick, too. Please, please promote this wonderful winger to the first team pronto so that he and Leo can score beautiful goals together for many years yet to come.



Oh yeah, and the rest of the team played pretty well too ;).

I was also glad to see how graciously Bayer Leverkusen handled their stunningly complete defeat at the Camp Nou. Their coach, Robin Dutt, clasped hands with Pep and put an arm around his shoulders at the end, saying something that made Pep blush and smile. Such a  far cry from Real Madrid's behavior after a Clasico. Jose Mourinho would have been staking out the parking garage, or possibly poking somebody's eyes out.

Hee... nice thing about watching this game casually is that if you miss a goal, just wait a few minutes and the next one will come along! Seriously, this was an historic event, glad you caught some of it.

I am thrilled, I really am :DDDD And Messi scored three for Argentina a week ago. After a stretch of bad luck in front of goal, the little man is on fire.

LOL. And Bayer beat Bayern München last weekend, so they're not a bad team at all (although, like Barça,Bayern is playing sub-par this year in the Bundesliga).

I felt bad for Bayer, but they took it on the chin. Amazing that they still had the will to score at the very end of the game when they got the opportunity.

This is what Messi tweeted about the experience: "Estoy feliz. Nunca imaginé hacer 5 goles en un partido. Gracias por los mensajes y saludos. Los quiero.!!!!!"

It was amasing game! I was a bit frustrated at the begining because they had so many chances and didn't score but than ... Leo was glorious! And Pique was the weakest link yesterday but still better than lately. and I believe it was Masche who is to blame for the Bayer goal. And it was a dream debute inCL for Tello!
And Peps little expression when Bayer scored was priceless as well as his exchange with Bayer coach! Briliant evening! Thank you boys!

Edit: And I love how the whole stadium was shouting Guardiooooooooooola Guardiooooooooooooooola Guardioooooooooooooola!

The beginning was a bit slow, I agree, but once they started scoring, it didn't stop!

I thought Pique played much better than he had been lately, and yes, I believe Masche lost his mark and allowed Bayer to score.

I feel almost sorry for Tello - it was such a great debut but all the headlines will be for Messi - but the kid has a great attitude, he doesn't seem anything but thrilled about the experience.

I was smiling so hard when the stadium chanted Guardiola's name! I hope after this magnificent display, and his acknowledgment after the game that it is such a privilege to be Messi's coach, that he will renew his contract!
