Quick thought on rewatching House M.D. 5X05 "Lucky Thirteen"

House is jealous because he thinks that Wilson is dating (and, okay, financially supporting) a prostitute. And he's jealous because Cuddy is buying baby furniture after successfully applying to be a candidate adoptive parent.

That's right. Emotionally, he's Wilson's boyfriend but Cuddy's child. And this only becomes clearer in this and subsequent seasons.

There were times in S5 when it nearly seemed as if they were setting up a weird kind of almost-triangle: Cuddy wanted House but wasn't willing to admit to it; House wanted Wilson, who wasn't about to see it; and Wilson didn't know what the hell he wanted.

I really wish they had explored that in a better fashion than they ended up doing.
