What can I say? I'm not exactly in a fuss over this because my fic 'Beware Greeks' practically becomes canon, doesn't it (pimping shamelessly)? I never did quite buy your speculations and was more convinced of a potential Cuddy death than that they'd kill Rachel off. Killing Cuddy solves more plot problems than killing Rachel would.
In addition, over the Christmas hiatus I worked on a fic that had as its premise that Cuddy finds out she has cancer just after the season pilot. She decides that she needs to split up with House and disappear from PPTH before he finds out because dealing with him when he'll be ignoring that she's dying and obsessively intent on finding a cure for her at all costs is more than she can deal with. Since she knows he'll figure out something is wrong if she dumps him, she figures she has to do something to make him dump her instead. Those hissy fits of hers: getting pissed at the go-kart race, causing a fuss over Brandi, palming Masters off on House and, of course, the 'You don't lie to me. Ever!' stunt - all Cuddy trying to get House to dump her. I abandoned the fic because the premise of Cuddy getting cancer this season seemed overly dramatic (sic!) and because although I tried for a light, humorous note it was turning out too angsty.
A pity, really. I'd have shown awesome prescience if I'd completed and posted it. :)
