Thank you! Honestly it would never have occurred to me to write the Torres/Xavi pairing (Xavi/Iker is more canon than canon, as one of my friends likes to say) if I hadn't seen the footage from the Eurocopa, especially during and after the final.

More than that, there are no openly gay male footballers in any professional league, although at least one recently spoke anonymously about how well-kept a secret his and certain other players' sexuality was. They would certainly have girlfriends, and many would have wives and children.

Yes, they are very physically affectionate with each other in general, and certain players in particular even more so - Xavi is one of those (and Sergio Ramos is another). It's also one of the things I really appreciate about Spanish culture.
